Discover Your Passion Through Arts & Crafts

Posted by: admin in Untagged  on

Two of my other favorite crafts that I have been doing for years are candle making and soap making. I will combine these, because the methods and the tools are similar. Candle making and soap making require a heat source for melting the wax or the soap base, and molds. Other options include: scents, colors and additives of your choice. The pros of these are that candles and soaps make great gifts, and you can personalize them to your (or someone else's) taste. The cons are that they can be messy, they require some amount of space, and they can be dangerous because of the heat source.

Although I have done several tie dye projects, and I love the finished results, it is not something I do regularly. The reason is, that it requires a lot of space, and it's MESSY. This is a project that I do outside wearing old clothes. The reason I love tie dye is because the end result is almost always a surprise and there are infinite possibilities from funky to formal. It is also a fun project to do with kids, because it brings out their creativity. If you get upset about messiness, this is not a craft for you.

The final craft I will talk about is jewelry making. I have made beaded bracelets and necklaces. This is a craft that could get very costly, because the supplies and tools are expensive. The cost also depends on the type of supplies you use. The skill level varies from super easy (anyone can string beads) to more difficult bead "weaving" or shaping. If you desire you can also make your own beads.

If you are interested, visit your local craft of hobby store and browse the different options. I would suggest that you pick something that results in a project that you really like. If you end up hating what you are making, you have wasted your time. I believe that if you do a craft, you should not only enjoy the process, but you (or someone) should enjoy the finished result. There are so many crafts that I have not mentioned, and one of them might be right for you.

Creating my own art is one of my favorite things to do

Posted by: CSnyder in Untagged  on

It's great fun looking at or shopping for art, in particular one of my favorite hobbies is photography. My daughter dropped my last digital camera which was an antique Kodak 1.6 megapixel camera, which was on it's last legs with an elastic band wrapped around it to hold the batteries in place so they wouldn't fall out. It was a blessing when she dropped the camera because I was forced to go out and buy an new Canon digita 10 megapixel camera in it's replacement. The higher the megapixel rating, the larger the print you can produce in prints for making excellent artwork for your home.

The camera has been a great tool for creating my own artwork when I get out on my bike and travel around the city I live in and take pictures particularly with people in the scenes. The price of getting prints done online now is a no brainer as the cost in most cases can be as low as .10 cents per print for a single 4 x 6 inch print. I love taking photos by the hundreds and then editing them on my computer and creating a list of prints suitable for framing. I also take lot's and lot's of photographs when I am travelling and do the same. When I have narrowed my list of photographs I like, I will have them printed and then buy some frames at places like Wal-Mart and Ikea at great prices and then create my own artwork for my walls.

Digital cameras are great for taking pictures of you family as well. My daughter is six years old and I have been taking photographs of her since she was born and we have her photographs on our walls at home so we can watch her change and grow up over the years. I even take photographs of flower arrangements as the city I live in has a tulip festival in the spring which offers an amazing array of beautiful tulip beds for taking some amazing pictures. I just love creating my own art work with my camera and buying frames of different shapes and sizes and finishes to proudly display my favorite photographs in.

Are You Interested In Painting?

Such vivid use of imagery can paint such paintings that my mind, not to my want, wanders off and explores these worlds, leaving me in a daze of a reading. You will need sufficient space for starting your car painting business. The family of Hermannsburg's most famous son, the famous watercolour artist Albert Namatjira, still lives in Hermannsburg and a collection of his paintings can be viewed in the old mission building.

In many cases however, extending or bringing forward settlement, including a fridge, repainting a fence may be what gets the deal across the line - but only if the agent is a skilled compromiser who means they're a skilled negotiator who can find the win-win for both clients. There are cave paintings in France that have been translated to read: "These are uncertain times we live in. Do not contemplate becoming a portraitist unless you truly enjoy painting people.

Paintings that are most likely to fall into this category usually have subject matter that is not imposing, that has broad appeal. He assisted Leys in painting historical murals in Antwerp's Town Hall. I compare them to sculpture or painting where now the artist now the model imposes his personality.

You might also be planning for painting walls, flooring, adding new fixtures to kitchen and bathrooms, installing heating and air conditioning systems, creating an additional room, and much more. If not, cleaning and repainting would do. For a simple work of art like painting, it can be sold through auctioning in the millions.

Individuals who wish to tour the galleries or perhaps even purchase a unique painting or sculpture to take home with them, they are sure to find a gallery in which to do so. For example, daily activities planned for children ages 3 to 7 may include arts and crafts, face- painting, camp-out night, candy bar Bingo, outdoor fun, and a pajama party. As education has been made available to children of all ages drawing and painting have been found to be useful tools to engage their attention.

I feel like a little kid who has just discovered the joy of finger painting. Consider balance, composition and colour of a painting. I forgot to mention my trusty set of three halogen torches for light painting.

More probable though is that the paintings were commissioned by Lorenzo for his teenaged sons, Piero and Giovanni. Facing a killer hurricane while planning to abduct a young girl from her grandparents" home, painting up a storm to put gas in the car, leaves Tam in one huge predicament. It won't solve the problem, you will become frustrated and the painting will become over-worked.

They will hold a good amount of paint and can handle the oil painting medium quite well. Art can encompass a wide variety of medium, such as, drawings, paintings, photography, and sculpture, to name a few. But no matter how talented the artist, a painting is not the same as the real thing.

Historically, the golden era of art deco jewelry was in 1920’s to 1930’s when most of the creative work was done. Due to world war one it had to see a rough phase but it never ended since then. Started as costume jewelry, art deco jewelry has been taken well in fine jewelry that is now comparable to modern bridal jewelry. One of the interesting feature of the art deco jewelry is its contrasting stones and color combination that’s make it really different from rest of the jewel. Mainly, a central gem is surrounded with other different stones to get an overstated appearance that is simply marvelous. Diamond surrounded by corals, emeralds, rubies and onyx are the perfect example of that extravagant look. This skill of art deco is also engraved into leaf, flower and other shapes as well. Some yards are like vibrant paintings. Over altars and in sacristies are smoky paintings of saints, virgins, angels, cardinals, and bishops. Consider balance, composition and colour of a painting.

Children's toys have been around as long as kids have and they range from the very basic ball or doll to today's more complicated modern toys such as multi dimensional play cubes offering many activities all in one toy to building blocks, puzzles, painting easels and others. They can be displayed with the same effect as a painting. Scenes and soundtrack the film is full of warm reds and gold's and is like a beautiful Renaissance painting come to life.

For one to experience a Jackson Pollack painting, one would have to of been in the process of creating the painting or one would have to physically touch the painting. I get excited over new exercise equipment, and she also gets excited over new painting supplies in the same way. Fat over lean is one of the most fundamental approaches to oil painting and when followed will reduce the risk of your paint cracking as it dries.

I hope this article on oil painting has answered some or all of your questions. He clearly has a social conscience and his depictions of the pain and misery of disenfranchised and minority people are so vivid and real you can't help but feel the pain in viewing the paintings. Students can study for associate, bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in drawing and painting, print making, sculpture, graphic design, fabric design, architecture, interior design, illustration, animation, film, furniture, fashion, and others.

There's a new option to the dilemmas of boring photographs and failed charcoal and oil (even water-colour) paintings and that is the cross-stitch portrait. This impulse progresses up into the sixties in works such as that of Fluxus and Ives Klein's cosmogonist blue paintings: the rhythmiczed vibrating space, the arabesque, the rhythmic emotional space of the blue paintings goes beyond that of the sequence of spaces. Paintings executed on this surface have withstood the test of time.

Whether you display your art in galleries, paint by commission, or teach painting at a local college, this is a great career choice. Or you could be passionate about the arts, be it drama, painting, or music. This is a difficult area to address though some have suggested painting the house numbers in a circle to 'contain' this energy.

In no time at all you can find yourself window shopping for a painting or sculpture to remember your trip by, dining on a fabulous meal or attending a show or play. There are many huge gambling rooms that are wonderfully decorated with beautiful art work- sculptures and paintings etc. Even though I'm not a very "artistic" person in terms of works of art, paintings, sculptures etc, I do happen to very much like Michelangelo's work and I have a couple of his paintings hanging right over my studio.

You could sort them by types such as: faux finishing, murals, borders, stencilling, One Stroke painting, etc. The National Gallery - this gallery is home to a great collection of European paintings.

10 Tips in Better Photography

Posted by: CSnyder in Untagged  on

Taking a good photo isn't as hard as you may think. You don't need the most expensive camera or years of experience, just 10 simple tips.

Taking a good photo isn't as hard as you may think. You don't need the most expensive camera or years of experience, just 10 simple tips.

Enjoy!

Tip 1 - Use All Your Available Space

Don't be afraid to use all the space in your photo. If you want to take a picture of something, it's ok for it to take up the whole shot with no or very little background showing. Keep distractions out of your shot

Tip 2 - Study Forms

This is a vital aspect to photography. Understanding forms in your photos. Don't see an object, she its shape and its form and find the best angle to photograph it from. Form is all around us and I highly suggest you read as many books on it as possible.

Tip 3 - Motion In Your Photos

Never have motion in your photos if you are photographing a still object. If there is something moving while you are trying to photograph a stationery object, your photo won't turn out anywhere near as well. Also never put a horizon line in the center of your frame.

Tip 4 - Learn To Use Contrasts Between Colors.

Some of the best photos have shades of white, gray and black. You can take great shots with just one color on your subject, but the contrasts between colors in a shot is what makes you a great photographer.

Tip 5 - Get Closer To Your Subject

This is one of the biggest mistakes most photographers make, not getting close enough to their subject. Get up and personal and close the distance gap. You can always reshape and resize a good shot but you can't continue to blowup a distant object.

Tip 6 - Shutter Lag

Shooting action shots with digital camera's can be tricky due to shutter lags. What this means is, when you press the button to take the photo, it can take up to a second for the shutter to take a photo, by that time what you were photographing would have moved or changed somehow. This means you have to compensate for shutter lag by predicting what your subject is going to do and taking the photo just before it takes the action you want. More expensive digital cameras don't have this problem.

Tip 7 - Pan

If you are taking an action shot and your shutter speed is slow, pan with the object. Follow through with the subject, from start to finish and one of those shots will be a winner. You have more chance of getting a good shot if you take more then one photo.

Tip 8 - Continuous Shots

To pan like I suggested above you will need a camera that does continuous shots and doesn't need to stop and process after every shot.

Tip 9 - How To Take Fantastic Night Time Shots

Night time shots can be spectacular, almost magical.... if done right! If not they can look horrible. Really horrible. Without adequate lighting, even good camera's can turn out crappy photos if the photographer doesn't know what he or she is doing.

Tip 10 - Study Your Manual

If your digital camera has a special night time mode, read the manual and follow their instructions on how to use it properly.

The skill of buying art

Posted by: CSnyder in Untagged  on

Wendy Hermann

If you don't love art, and are simply considering buying art as an investment, the best advice is to find something else to invest in. Collecting and buying art should be a labor of love, not a cold-hearted financial calculation.

There are many factors that a serious art collector should take into account when buying art. Here are some of the main ones:

1. Know Your Own Tastes

Never buy something just because an "art expert" tells you that it is a beautiful, classic piece of art. If the art piece means nothing to you, it's not worth you buying it. Unless you're a professional trader, the art piece you buy is going to be something that you own and look at for years. So choose art that speaks to you. And to do that, you need to know what you like and what you don't like.

An important secondary benefit of knowing your taste is it gives you the ability to clearly state your desires to art dealers that you work with to help build your collection.

2. Know Your budget

No matter how much you like an art piece, don't put yourself in enormous debt to acquire it. If you can't afford it, so be it. Just let it go and wait for something to show up that fits your budget. No art collector in the world gets every piece he is attracted to.

3. Know Your Art Dealers

Once you know what kind of art you like, find the galleries that sell it. Introduce yourself to the gallery owners. Form a relationship with them. Let them know what types of art pieces you're interested in. Then when they get a new piece or art in, your name will be near the top of the list of people that they notify. This is an excellent way to get first crack at art pieces that normal people will never see, because they simply are never put up for sale.

Developing relationships with reputable art dealers also helps to protect you from scams. You can have faith that the art pieces you get are original pieces and not simply knock-offs.

Also, if you come to love the work of a particular artist, you may find that his or her work is carried primarily through a particular dealer. All the more reason to become friendly with as many art dealers as you can.

4. Negotiate the Price

Just because an art piece has a price tag on it does not mean that you have to pay that price. Art prices are not set in stone. Dont be afraid of dickering with dealers. In most cases its even expected.

5. Insure Your Art

There are few things more devastating than losing your art treasures through fire or theft. But the financial losses can possibly even be worse.

Whenever you buy a piece of collectible art, call your insurance broker and make sure she includes it on your policy. If you have a good homeowners policy, it will probably already provide general coverage. But if you have art pieces that are documented collectible items, you want to definitely ensure that this is noted on your policy - even if you have to buy an additional rider for it.

Its also important to note that insurance will not only cover things like fire and theft, as mentioned above. It will also cover things like water damage, breakage, moving, and so on.

Now go out and start collecting. Good luck and much success in your art buying.

Where to Buy Art for the Home

Posted by: CSnyder in Untagged  on

Wendy Hermann

The gathering of holiday mementos is an ideal way to start collecting art for the home. Long after the photographs have been put into albums and hidden away a beautiful piece of art created by some local artist from the visiting region will remain on your wall as a point of interest for conversation in the many years ahead.

But where can you buy art? What's the best place?

Art for the home can be found absolutely anywhere, from local markets to one of the many cafes in tourist locations that often act as a gallery for a local artist. Some amazing pieces of local art are often found in souvenir shops along your journey. But the two places I mostly like to buy art from are eBay and private collectors.

Buying Art From Ebay:

The great thing about buying art on eBay is that you can usually buy for reasonable prices. This is good for the art investor, because he knows that if he makes a mistake, at least he hasn't risked a huge sum of money. Ebay has become the place to go for good deals so except in rare cases, you get a good deal for you money.

In addition, many artists like to sell on eBay - mostly because it's one of the rare places where they can have their work seen by potentially hundreds of people. Artists are mostly desperate to have their work seen and because of this, art collectors can often "steal" works or art from unknown artists before they are discovered.

The downside of buying art on eBay is the whole eBay art fraud thing.

Some sellers, and no one knows exactly how many, will outright lie about the art they are selling. They'll state that a piece of art is an original even though it isn't. They'll place fake signatures on paintings to make them seem more valuable to the bidders and drive up the bid price. They'll forge paintings or prints and sell them for whatever they can get with the secure knowledge that they won't have to pay a heavy price if they get caught.

If you're a novice art buyer, and you're thinking of buying an expensive piece of art, eBay is probably not for you.

Private Art Galleries:

Private galleries are a great place to buy art. But you don't want to buy from just anyone. You want to find out who the best dealers are in your particular art niche. For example, if you are interested in Native American art, you want to find the best dealers in that market. Once you find who they are, you want to begin to develop relationships with them. Doing this will not only help you when you get to the price haggling point, it will also ensure that you're first on their "call list" when they get a new piece of art in.

In addition, a good dealer can help guide you in your art acquisitions by giving you their expert and honest opinions on which pieces are most likely to appreciate in value and which artists are likely to become more popular in years to come.

Wherever you decide to buy, just make sure that you love the piece you buy regardless of whether it will increase in value or not. That way you will never be disappointed in your purchase.
